Applications of Melamine Formaldehyde Impregnating Resin

The applications of Melamine Formaldehyde Impregnating Resin include the following:

  • It is used as a resin for coating the outer surface of papers in impregnation lines for surfacing MDF and particleboard. The overlay papers coated with this resin are glued onto the desired wooden surfaces after drying.

  • This resin is applied for the lamination layer of paper to create a smooth surface, resulting in paper with the characteristics of a laminated veneer for various uses such as laminated partitions and laminated flooring/parquet.

  • Furthermore, it is utilized in the construction of false ceilings and for interior and exterior building facades. The reason for using melamine resin is its resistance to moisture and changes in weather conditions.

  • Melamine resin is also employed in the manufacturing of wooden coils, as well as for making cabinets, surface veneer composites, and in the finishing stage of the textile industry.

Other applications of Melamine Formaldehyde Resin stem from its inherent properties, such as stability against UV radiation, high electrical resistance, heat resistance, and resistance to weak acidic substances. To date, the most common use of melamine in the paint industry is related to the production of acrylic and polyester paints.
